Sofia Rei - De Tierra y Oro (2013) - CD

Building on the success of her Independent Music Award-winning second release Sube Azul, vocalist Sofia Rei returns with the spellbinding De Tierra Y Oro, co-produced by Fabrice Dupont. Rei describes the album as a series of "philosophical wanderings" -- songs that draw on a wide range of South American folkloric influences and bracingly modern sounds, with Rei's powerful voice in the forefront.

Sofia Rei - Sube Azul (2009) - CD

Sofia Rei is one of New York’s most passionate, charismatic and inventive vocalists, but she brings more than the depth and fullness of a riveting voice to her second album, Sube Azul (World Village/Harmonia Mundi). She also serves as the album’s composer, arranger, lyricist and — with bassist Jorge Roeder — producer. Following up on Ojalá, her polyglot and multilingual debut, she offers this time a collection of mostly original Spanish-language songs, building on a new set of growth experiences since moving to New York in 2005.

Banda Magda - Amour, T'es Là? (2013) - CD

Sparkling with mirror-ball iridescence, Banda Magda’s debut Amour, t’es là? gleams in the brightest possible palette. Its songs wink and smile with Technicolor forests and dapper love interests in tiger masks, with an entire sun-drenched world, all artfully arranged with real finesse. Led by a New York-based, Greek-born singer and composer Magda Giannikou, the band may move from samba to jazz manouche, from Greek dance rhythms to forro, playing everything from marimba to pots and pans to get just the right shade of sound.
